lt is that time of year again and the 2017 hail season is fast approaching. Saskatchewan Municipal Hail Insurance (SMHI) & Additional Municipal Hail Insurance (AMHI)
For 2017 Municipal Hail has again reduced rates. The surcharge on Lentils has been lowered to l.50x the basic rate, the discount on a 10 straight deductible has been reduced to .70 of the full cover rate and we have made reductions to township rates. Our rates on average, will be down 4% from 2016.
With the continuous coverage feature offered exclusively by SMHI, your crops are automatically covered effective May 15 and you have until June 15 to apply for increased coverage which has been increased to $250 per acre.
Incremental changes continue to be made to our loss adjustment procedures and processes. With the changes made over the past four seasons Municipal Hail continues to provide industry best field assessments and prompt indemnity payments.
2016 was the 100 year of operation for SMHI and to celebrate this milestone we have made a one million dollar donation to STARS on behalf of all producers that have supported SMHI. The Board of Directors have also commissioned a book to record the history of farming and SMHI over the past century. Copies of this book are available by contacting head office at a cost of $25.00 per copy.
If you have seeded crops on land that you rent or you require more than the $250 indemnity offered by SMHI, you can purchase coverage from AMHL. AMHL offers the same low rates and coverage options as SMHI.
Municipal Hail is your Association and we look forward to providing your spot loss hail insurance coverage. If you have any questions or require additional information do not hesitate to contact our office or our agent in your local RM office.
